An Ohio native and Columbia University Library School graduate, Janie Lynne Harris started work at Cornell on August 1, 1972, in the Reference Department of Olin Library. In 1978, she was appointed Social Sciences Bibliographer. In the Spring of 1992, the University instituted a graduate minor in Lesbian, Bisexual, and Gay Studies, available to graduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences.
